Nakayoshi January 1992

Many of Naoko Takeuchi’s works, including Sailor Moon, were serialized by chapter in this monthly publication before being published by Kodansha in book format. These back issues of Nakayoshi are extremely difficult to find due to their age, the fact that the publisher does not allow for direct back issue re-ordering, and their rarity – many collectors in Japan prize these issues, especially when they feature famous artists such as Ms. Takeuchi.

This particular issue features nothing by Naoko Takeuchi, but it does feature a chapter of Nekobe Neko’s “Miracle Girls!”

    There’s an illustration of Sailor Moon that I’ve never seen before! o.o (Last scanned page on page 3.) I noticed that she kept being called Sailor V throughout this entire issue, but I guess they changed it to Sailor Moon at the last minute and made Sailor V and Sailor Moon two different characters. XD (I had heard something about that before, but it was so long ago…^^; )

      Yep, the Nakayoshi version of Sailor Moon, especially in the original promotions for the series, is quite different than how the series ended up turning out in later versions. It’s really neat to see the changes, which is why I wanted to collect all the original serializations from Nakayoshi ^^;

    This is a really interesting illustration.Is that long-haired girl Rei?
    Could someone translate these short sentences around Usagi or back then still Minako, Umino/Amano and that girl? I would be very thankful and many others probably, too. :D
