Our Favorite Sailor Moon Websites

Listed in no particular order because we’re obsessed with them all.

Threelights.net
The owner Lisa has been contributing to the Sailor Moon fan community for decades. Here you can find an enormous gallery of rare scans and high quality media across many categories: manga, trading cards, animation cells, doujinshi, and more. She has also lovingly archived other classic Sailor moon sites to preserve pieces of the Sailor Moon fandom history that would have otherwise vanished. It’s been my biggest inspiration for over 20 years.

Sailor Moon Uncensored
This website started it all for Miss Dream. Dan, who is a co-founder at Miss Dream, also co-founded this website way back in the 1990s. It is how Elly and Dan first met online. This website is dedicated to exploring the differences between the original Japanese Sailor Moon works and English dub adaptations. It documents comparisons, translation issues, fan opinions, and much more. At its core, it takes a critical but fan-oriented perspective: while it respects the original works, it is concerned with fidelity, and generally supports official releases while also discussion fan translations and other adaptations.

Sera Myu Collector
Sarah has created an absolute treasure trove of rare and commemorative items from every Sailor Moon musical run (1993-2005 & 2013-present). This website is a must-visit for anyone wanting to see the full scope of Sailor Moon musical merchandise. You can find model kits, original flyers, memorabilia, scripts, and information about each musical here. We used this site as a reference guide while purchasing all of the musicals for our physical collection.

Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Cards
Shin has one of the most impressive collections of Sailor Moon trading cards I’ve ever come across. It presents a wide variety of Sailor Moon cards (pull pack cards, promo & anniversary cards, CCG cards, etc.) for sale or trade, alongside a fabulous catalog of the owner’s personal collection. If you’re into collecting Sailor Moon cards, this site is a must-visit resource.

Dies Gaudii
Ian has lovingly created one of the most essential references about the etymology of the Sailor Moon franchise. While the site is no longer maintained, it is an incredible reference that we’ve used for decades.

SailorMusic.net
Michelle is the most prolific collector and cataloger of Sailor Moon music on the web. She has lovingly shared her entire collection for download – very generous! We have loved visiting here for decades and this site inspired us to translate many lyrics for the music she’s been kind enough to circulate.

Manga Style
Another fantastic resource created by Michelle of SailorMusic.net. This is a meticulously curated fansite dedicated to preserving and showcasing the artbooks related to Sailor Moon. Some rarities available for download include the Original Picture collection volumes, the Infinity Artbook, and the Materials Collection. This website is a celebration of the artistry behind the manga of Sailor Moon, and has been a resource we use in our own research.

Usagi.org
Hitoshi Doi is an absolute OG in the Sailor Moon fandom. This is the first Sailor Moon website we ever visited back in the 1990s and at the time, it was the ultimate resource for learning about the Japanese edition of the anime. It contains detailed episode guides, character profiles, a database about the voice actors, and a guide to various merchandise such as laser disc, CDs and cassettes, and books. This is where we discovered that Sailor Moon was first serialized in a magazine called Nakayoshi. We are forever grateful to Doi-san for his incredible research and for inspiring us to follow in his footsteps.

Tuxedo Unmasked
Jason is a passionate fan of Sailor Moon and his website contains all kinds of unusual finds. Rare interviews with Mitsuishi Kotono (the first Japanese voice actress for the Sailor Moon anime), comparisons of each released edition of the Sailor Moon manga, and other great articles about Sailor Moon and the fandom.

Research Materials

Tail’s Room – Nakayoshi and RunRun Table of Contents
This site catalogs the table of contents for the monthly magazines Nakayoshi and RunRun. While Nakayoshi is an ongoing publication, RunRun has been out of print for decades. The original serialization of Sailor Moon and Codename: Sailor V appeared in these magazines. We used this site as a reference for buying these magazines and sharing them as a digital library in our members only section. It is in Japanese. This site is no longer updated as of 2004, but it is a fantastic resource.

Young You Table of Contents
This site catalogs the table of contents for the monthly magazine Young You, which is now out of print. The “Punch” comic series by Naoko Takeuchi was published in Young You, so we use this site as a reference for buying these magazines and sharing them as a digital library in our members only section. It is in Japanese. This site is defunct, but we’ve linked to the Internet Archive since it’s such a valuable resource.
