Miss Dream’s New Look!

Hey Dreamers! This week we have two big announcements:

Miss Dream has a brand new logo!

You might have wondered why we were suddenly talking about the origins of the Miss Dream name last week. That was our way of dropping a little hint about the new logo. We now have Miss Dream herself as our mascot! This beautiful artwork was done by Andrea Miller. You may remember her work from the Silver Millenium Masquerade Ball! We reached out to Andrea again to help give us a new and unique look, and she came back with another gorgeous piece of art. Stay tuned next week to hear more about Andrea during our first Moonie of the Month feature!

We also made a few changes to the colors and fonts on the site to spruce things up a bit and match the new logo. Huge thanks are in order to Carly Schonberg, a true WordPress CSS wizard, for making it all happen.

We’ve Opened a Patreon Page!

As you might already know, it costs us a lot of money to keep Miss Dream running. Our monthly hosting and cloudflare bill is $315! On top of that, gathering up Sailor Moon publications and other merch to digitize for the site can quickly get pricey. Enter Patreon – a monthly tipping and rewards site that allows you to support your favorite content creators and get perks as a thank you. Miss Dream’s content will always be free to access, but we are incredibly grateful for any support our visitors can provide to help ease the hosting bill and make it easier for us to keep acquiring materials to share. Even just $1 helps a ton!

Check out our Patreon page to learn more about the rewards we’re offering and how to make a pledge!

I hope you guys like the new look! We’re also working hard behind the scenes to get some of our content more organized and hopefully make it easier to find. I’ll keep you updated as we make changes! Thank you as always for your kind support of Miss Dream!

Miss Who?

Hello Dreamers!

We’re taking a short break from updates this week to work behind the scenes to spruce the site up a bit and get our content better organized so that it’s easier to find. While we’re working on those changes, we thought we’d ask…

Do you know the meaning behind the name Miss Dream?

“Miss Dream” is an original character from the 1995 musical “Sailor Moon SuperS – Yume Senshi – Ai – Eien ni…”! Played by Takeda Keiko, Miss Dream is a mysterious girl who doesn’t remember her name or her past. She is manipulated by the Dead Moon Circus into being a pawn in their hunt for Pegasus. When Usagi sees her being bullied by the Amazon Trio, she chases the Trio away and promises to be her friend. This is when she sings the song that identifies the character’s name – Miss Dream. Check out our translation of the lyrics here!

Miss Dream is later discovered to have brainwashed Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako into giving up on love and justice, but Usagi insists that she’s not a bad person and she must be protected. The Outer Soldiers arrive and reveal that the Dead Moon Circus has created a black dream hole inside of Miss Dream. She is dangerous and must be destroyed. Wait… doesn’t that sound kind of familiar?

That’s probably because Miss Dream’s story is very similar to that of Hotaru’s in Sailor Moon S/the Mugen arc.

The earliest musicals ran concurrent to the TV anime and often had to make major plot changes because they didn’t know where the anime or manga would take the story. Sailor Saturn never appeared in the musicals based on the S/Mugen arc, likely because her story hadn’t been revealed yet. Though Miss Dream never becomes Sailor Saturn and isn’t revealed to be Hotaru in “Yume Senshi,” the program shows Takeda Keiko in the Saturn costume and credits her as “Mysterious Girl / Sailor Saturn” – or is it’s infamously written in English, “Sailor Satan.” The musical’s revision that ran the following year is called “Yume Senshi – Ai – Eien ni…Saturn Fukkatsu Hen” (Dream Soldiers – Love – Eternally… The Revival of Saturn) and accordingly the plot was adjusted to reveal Miss Dream’s true form within the show. The song Miss Dream was reworked into Saturn’s haunting theme To a Brand New World. (English lyrics) Takeda Keiko returned to play Sailor Saturn for the remainder of the first stage musicals, with the exception of Eien Densetsu.

So that’s the story behind our name! Are you an old school musical fan who already knew? Or are you surprised by the somewhat obscure reference?

Stay tuned, you might be hearing more from Miss Dream herself soon!

TAKAHIRO’s Comment

I’m incredibly happy to be involved in the world of Sailor Moon, which I’ve loved since I was little. Using talented performers and the latest technology, I’d like to create a stage show that will be loved by many people. I know there are fans all over the world, and I’d like for them to enjoy a new style of Japanese entertainment. I hope you enjoy it.

*New Sailor Moon Musical Project!

A new Sailor Moon Musical project will debut in Summer 2019! SeraMyu is going to power up and be reborn anew!

That’s a LOT of new information for the year! Here’s to hoping we’ll get some of that information we keep craving on the new Crystal movies from the Osabu and Chiaki Kon talk at Anime Matsuri!

And then there’s the return of the musicals in Summer 2019, which is huge! New cast? Who will stick around? I’m hoping a few people get to come back and shine some more, what about you? Any performers you’d like to see return to the stage once more?

Le Mouvement Final Images and Video as well as a Garage Sale!

Hello Dreamers!

Wow, what’s this? No actual scans to post? It’s a rarity for the site! But with that in mind we still have our garage sale running and some content for you to have free access to via Sailor Busters, including Le Mouvement Final!

If you don’t know, I run a side website that contains images from the anime (90’s and Crystal), the live action show, and musicals! Now granted it’s a giant IN THE WORKS project, but I enjoy it!

As of right now, I’m heavily working on Le Mouvement Final images, audio, and video feed. Most noteworthy is that you can see on the website itself now!

On top of that, I actively post the images and information into my twitter for everyone to see!

With that said, Miss Dream WILL be subtitling Le Mouvement Final again (there is a new video version out there), but not until the DVD is released to confirm final video footage and audio, along with extra content. Below you can see a few images that I’ve taken from Un Nouveau Voyage and Le Mouvement Final for a sample.

These are in a larger site on my twitter and website! Audio will be posted ASAP.
